It is frequently used both for playing copied games and for storing large amounts of data that a program needs to keep that would not fit in the GameCube's RAM. It is useless as a .dol loading method because it already requires you to have a .dol running every time you use it. Guest: please check your facts before you post stuff that will confuse people. Asking questions is fine; claiming to have a free way to load .dols that you have never tried and don't know anything about just confuses people and doesn't help anyone.

Use ctr-cs to send GCOS to memcard 2 then boot with AR. Use ctr-cs to send Anaconda to memcard 2 then autoboot.Burn DVD-r with GCARS on it. Use crr-cs to send GCOM to memcard 2. So it is not absolutely free.

ctr-cs uploads samson's loader to memcard. AR boots samson's loader. Samson's loader boots GCARS. And how do you plan to run CTR-GCS, since it requires a .dol to be running on the GameCube?

can't you use AR as a receiver... No, the AR doesn't allow you to run .dol files by itself. The only way you can get an AR to load .dol files is by hacking it with either Samson's loader (requires that you get the .dol files onto a memcard some other way) or SDLoad (which requires buying an SD adapter).
