Contacting the DHCP Server....
All right - I can download gcars to my cube, and I am able to use DHCP. Now the problem I'm having is getting stuck at the contacting DHCP server. Someone who is helping me noticed that my internal IP address is the same as my external IP address. I live on a college campus, and I need as much help as anyone can offer.

^^^Yah. Here is the deal. The internet signal going to his dorm room is I THINK(don't quote me on this) just another router local ip, which is connected to another router, which is connected to another router, etc. I'm pretty sure we need the absolute external IP of the whole school building...how would we find that out? I tried telling him to do the traceroute option from www.whatsmyip.org, and it looks interesting, but we havent tried all the numbers there yet. ALSO: he is using a hub to connect the cube, does that matter? ALSO: he is using the DHCP Enabled option(all zeros for his IP) also we are using .95 gcars

Ok here's the deal- I bought a router today to see if that could help. Now the problem I'm having is that I cannot set up the router since I don't have a modem. I live on campus, and my internet comes directly from the wall. So here's what I was thinking of doing: I've already registered the MAC address of the router with the school's DHCP server. However, without a modem, I am unable to connect to the internet in order to finish setting up the router. So - my plan is to give my computer's internet settings to the router as a static IP, and then stick the computer to the router. I have tried this only once so far, and when I did, I was unable to get to the GCARS menu on my gamecube. Will this work? Or does the router need to be registered as a DHCP instead of being static?

Also - this procedure changes the subnet mask and default gateway of my computer. I know these settings for the router, and can use ipconfig to find the new settings on the computer. Of the two gateways and subnet masks, which do I enter into the pso network settings?

K I've resolved my issue. It turns out you must have a router and a hub just can't cut it.
