CTR-GCS 3rd party memory card work-around
i erased a memory card that had my wife's ssbm files on it, including a pic she took of both links running side-by-side that was just kick-ass. now it happens that i had backed the card up as a raw file using ctr-gcs but even tho ctr-gcs will read from anycard i own.. it won't write to them 90% of the time. heres what ya need 1) memory card you idioticlly destroyed while trying to make a gc do something shigeru never intended a gc to do. 2) legit nintendo card with enough freespace or if using raw files get a memory card of the same size (59 or 251) 3) your usual GC to PC connectivity stuff, cuz if you can't get that working on your own then this whole thing is fairly useless to you. 4) a copy of ctr-gcs, i used the newer version but i imagine 1.0 will work too optional) a good 9mm handgun incase it doesn't work. trust me, any wife can find much more terrible ways to kill you for losing her data. once you have ctr-gcs working, backup your third party card to gci format files instead of raw, it'll make things easier if you blank the card somehow. but even as gci files, ctr-gcs won't write the files to the 3rd party card. instead, backup the legit nintendo card (raw should be fine) and write the gci files or even the raw file of the 3rd party card to it. make sure your using the same size card if your writing a raw file. -if your using gci files, write the GCIs to the nintendo card and then launch your gc into the memory manager thing (IPL) and then copy the files back to the 3rd party card. restore the backup of your nintendo card if you have to and your done, go wash your hands. -if you are using a raw file of the 3rd party card.. then write the raw to the nintendo card first. then without reseting the gc, have ctr-gcs write all the data file by file to gci format. trying to use a nintendo card with raw data from another card will make the gc format it, but ctr-gcs will see the files inside the raw you wrote and let you copy them back off. after that just write the gci files to the nintendo card and transfer them back to their original card thru the IPL. re-write the original data to the nintendo card thru ctr-gcs and you can put the 9mm away now. so what you've done is copied the raw data to the nintendo card, ripped the gci files off the nintendo card and written them back again. only to copy them back to the card they came from. redundent.. but it works. keep in mind, files from pso WILL corrupt and will not transfer off the nintendo card back to the original card. unmovable/uncopiable files will not be relocatable either. i have not -*test*-('")ed this on any cards bigger than a 251, so i don't know if it will work.
