GCARS-CS Public Beta [v0.9.9] GCARS-CS is a GameCube app that allows you to play any multiplayer GameCube game over the Internet. It supports Super Smash Bros. Melee, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, Super Monkey Ball 2, and Ikaruga at the moment, and more online play scripts are being created all the time.
DON'T try to restore a card image using Levine. it WILL corrupt your memory card.

One question I've wanted to ask you, fuzzy. Where do you learn such advanced C (usually when I look for C books or tutorials, it gives me C++, so I have no luck).
fuzziqersoftware- 11-10-2005
Me too. I couldn't find any books on straight C either. So I learned C++. Later, I decided that C is better because it's faster and simpler. I learned how to write "advanced" C by just looking at various API documentations. For the GameCube, I've written my own API (kinda :P)

What exactly do you need to execute this on a gamecube? I know the BBA is needed but what else? Will a Max Drive Pro work?

I use PSOLoad, but yeah, a Max Drive Pro should work fine.

v0.9.9 is out, after MONTHS of inactivity..... I might be restarting this project soon.

The reason you haven't heard much on the forms is because of college and school.
wait tell summer vacation (excluding me... i don't have a summer vacation). Then you will get a lot of responses.

Sweet, thanks for releasing a new version! I hope you resume work on it soon.
Once school's out (sometime around May 23 if I remember correctly), I'm going to take advantage of the fact that there will be two GameCubes in my house and rent a second copy of Super Monkey Ball 2, and -*test*-('") the hell out of my script for it over my LAN. With any luck, I'll be able to find the exact lines of the script that screw up the game, and hopefully be able to fix them.

Oooh! New version. :D
This one recognises my fabled dead card when it starts up, but still refuses to produce a list of save files, and produces gibberish even more random then the last version when I rip the data.
But aside from that, what's with the screen I get after selecting the save options? If I select a memory card, or "do not save", I get a screen telling me about the "malloc" of various data locations stored somewhere or other.
Options are to press A or B to continue. A little hex counter down the bottom of the screen goes up by one for every two button presses, and GCars finally goes to the main menu once this count reaches 51...
Does this even if there are no memory cards plugged in. The counter remains down the bottom of the screen once the program loads, and the "malloc" page comes back up again if I go into the memory card manager.
A bug or a feature?
fuzziqersoftware- 05-07-2006
Neither - it's a mistake. I should have removed that; to tell the truth, it's pretty annoying. I just never noticed it before, since I don't use those features very often. I'll have to remove it and re-release 0.9.9, I guess.

Does the newer version still have trouble with 3rd party cars such as the max drive card? The reason I ask is because it would be easier to boot gcars using my max drive and have it save on that card too.

It supposedly has some minor bug fixes that might improve compatibility with 3rd party cards. I don't know of any specific 3rd party cards that it fixed, though.
Fuzziqer: did you ever re-release 0.9.9 to fix the malloc screen coming up?
fuzziqersoftware- 05-13-2006
Not yet; I haven't had very much time to work on it.
As for third-party memory cards, GCARS works fine with an AR card (and the AR card can be inserted at any time as well). It did not work with a nYko 1019 block card, but that *may* have been fixed (I haven't -*test*-('")ed it yet). You can -*test*-('") the Max Drive card for me; just have it in Slot B when GCARS launches, and select it when it asks you for a memory card. If it says "Unknown Device", chances are it won't work, but you may as well select it anyway, because it won't corrupt your data.
