How's GCARS-CS Coming? I haven't seen a status update on GCARS-CS since March 11. How's it coming with the next version? I assume you've been spending most of your time on the PSO Server (which is fine with me; it's your time); have you had any time to work on GCARS-CS since then? Not trying to push you; I'm just wondering.

Well, I haven't worked on GCARS-CS in a long time, mainly because it hasn't generated much interest. So many more people seem interested in the PSO server that I give it most of my time. If this section of the forum were to pick up again, I'd probably spend more time on GCARS-CS.
The next thing to be done on GCARS is to make it more portable - so maybe there'll be online simulators for other systems in the future (I'm looking at the Revolution or "Wii" in particular).

Well, GCARS-CS still generates posts on SmashBoards. I don't know why not many people have been posting here, but I suspect we have a chicken-and-egg problem: most people probably haven't posted here in a while simply because there hasn't been a release for months.
Probably some of the blame for not many people posting here also lies with the script hackers, including me. If GCARS-CS supported more games, it would probably generate more interest. Unfortunately, I haven't had time to work on Super Monkey Ball 2 for months, and it's made more difficult by the fact that my dad messed with my router, and now the DMZ to my GameCube is disabled, so I don't think I can even -*test*-('") GCARS-CS until I get my dad to either reenable DMZ or give me the password to the router. :(
Maybe if you posted on GSCentral and asked hackers to write scripts for more games, it would generate more interest.

I asked for script hackers a while ago; nobody wanted to help. Well, a few did, but had no clue what they were doing (i.e. hadn't heard of GCNrd), so I decided to leave it there. You're right; I probably should ask again, or at least inform people of the need for scripts.
I'm going to look at the source code today to find any bugs before another release can be made (remember, this version includes multiple local players, but this feature isn't -*test*-('")ed yet).

When I initially asked about the concept of online play through homebrew on GCDev back in 2004 (I think), before GCARS-CS or GC_Online_Tunnel had even been released, I had never used homebrew, and had never done any code hacking. However, I quickly picked it up just by searching around Google and looking through The Hacking Text at GSCentral. My point being, just because someone hasn't used GCNrd doesn't mean that they can't learn how.
That said, maybe asking at GSCentral, where there are already a lot of talented code hackers, would be more productive than just asking people that are interested in GCARS-CS.
coomdoom: I wish. My dad is computer-savvy, and he's changed all the default security settings on the router. The router's login page isn't secure, so I suppose I could intercept it using Ethereal or something. Probably a better bet to just try to convince him to let me on it. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.
