Is the GBA function in Pioneer Halloween being worked on? Instead of freezing like in the previous versions, it now gives a File Not Found error.

fuzziqersoftware- 05-21-2006

The problem is most likely in the server's code, in a function called QuestSendFile. I'll probably just rewrite this function from scratch; it's not very well-written and screws up a lot.

yay. Sounds great. MB'ing GBA rules.

*bump* v1.9 released :P

Syphos- 05-27-2006

The new reload function gave me an Exception: Memory leak Error.. Pressed CTRL+SHIFT+SPACE multiple times to cause this. But it seem to works correctly though o.o it does not happen always. (or am I having bad hardware? ) by the way, why does the server close on CTRL+SPACE??

Totakeke- 05-27-2006

It doesn't close on CTRL+SPACE. It only hides the process. Pressing it again while another program is the active window will make it reappear. :P The new reload function works fine on my server. Maybe you do have bad hardware? Now I see what you may be talking about. My server's crashed at least 5 times in the last hour and it only happened when it was in the 'hidden' (CTRL+SPACE) mode. It hasn't crashed at all since I left it minimized in the task bar instead.

v1.9 has a new exception handler that closes the thread that crashed, instead of the entire process. The problem is that it doesn't delete that thread's client from the lobby or game that it's in. The entire process will only crash if the main thread crashes. I've actually found a new bug since I released that version - it seems that if a client's thread crashes while in a lobby or game, everyone else in that lobby or game will eventually be disconnected, and anyone else entering will be disconnected also. I know what the problem is, and I'll fix it in the next release (which won't take nearly as long as the last one). As for the reload feature, I suppose just use it while the console is visible. I don't know why it would crash when the console is hidden (show me the exception info, if you can).

cool nice job

VashYsk- 05-28-2006

im not sure what causes it because i havent been paying attention my server crashes randomly. like ill be on schthacks server or sega servers messing around then i decide to log into mine to mess with the server software and it says the server isnt up, so i check my pc and its closed and i have to open it again, its happened about 4 or 5 times since i got 1.9

fuzziqersoftware- 05-28-2006

That's beecause something must have caused the main thread to crash. I'm looking into this, don't worry.

fuzziqersoftware- 05-29-2006

*bump* v1.9a released..... it should fix a few bugs with the new interrupt handler. Also, the reload feature has been implemented as a chat command as well as a key combo (I was bored).

Hey fuzzy is it just me or is there no link to download 1.9a ?

fuzziqersoftware- 05-29-2006

No, it's there. http://www.fuzziqersoftwre.com/pso/ Look at the bottom of the page. You need v1.9 already; just download v1.9a and replace the .exe file with the new one.

I have a few bugs I would like to report which I have come across in my few days of using the psogc server. Firstly I was playing with a friend and we were using the word select feature. I used the word chat that would have been "I need 999999 meseta!" This caused an error to appear on screen which stated that I was being kicked for a hack attempt, I then was able to log back in and go back to the game but all my items which were not equipped were missing which isn't that big of a deal. The next strange thing that happened was that when I went back into the game the entire forest area was 'reset' for me, back to its original state. My friend, however, was able to go wherever he pleased since we had almost reached the end of the forest. I was fighting the monsters we had already killed and he was just watching me fighting nothing. The games seemed to have lost track of what had already happened but they were still in sync with each other. Once I went through the forest again we were able to continue from where we had left off and beat the dragon. It was very strange though. The second problem I have been having deals with the server itself. I start a brand new server from scratch. I login and it registers my keys. I have my friend login and it registers him. We can play together just fine. Then once he disconnects he cannot log back in. The server disconnects him on every attempt to join the server again. I have tried setting the server to not worry about hunter’s licenses but that has helped none. I am connecting to the server through the LAN so I connect to 192.168.1.100, he connects to my global ip and I have the router forward him to the server computer through ports 53 and the 9000 ones which are needed to be open. It's just really strange that he can connect just fine the first time, then every time after the first it doesn't work. I don't change any settings between connections; the server is just constantly running. I have no problem connecting on later attempts, it lets me right in. I don't quite understand why it would do this but perhaps someone may have some insight. Thanks I haven't studied Word Select in-depth; there may be a few phrases that are caught as hack attempts but are actually legitimate. I'll raise the threshold for w/s a bit in v1.9. As for the game getting messed up, I really don't know why that happens. I've heard of it happening once before, but all those things are controlled by the clients; not by the server. You could use the $warp command to skip most of the forest, if you want. As for not being able to reconnect to the server: some people have reported problems with wireless connections. Do you have a wireless router? If so, try running the server from a computer with a wired (Ethernet) connection, and see if it works then. I guess this is due to discrepancies in WinSock, but that's Microsoft's problem. I'll look into workarounds for it. Word select works same way as a 60, foward it to all the clients like a walking packet - thats all i remember, Forgot how it works though, havent done this in a long while lol. greetz to everyone here. goodbyes to the non-supporters :). Mystikal.

Yeah, it gets forwarded to everyone, but he's talking about its values it uses. Most of the values not used normally crash users; so you need to make a range of which are legit Word Select values and which aren't.
