Quest Making With souljas tool it wont let me open up the files included in The server package.
But in the Quest.rar it lets me open those. Because they are the _j.dat and not .dat minus the_j
After i edit and area I inject it then i compress the file. Im not quite sure how to make the quest usable. I have the quest manager. they just never show up.
I also replaced the files of heat sword once and when you load it the screan just turned Black.... like an fsod.
So i think i have the wrong files to begin with... idk any help works

after you compress a file, rename it and remove the .prs from it. it should be useable then. for example, if the compressed file is file123.dat.prs, rename it so it is file123.dat. hope this helps.

quests shipped with Fuzziqers Server are compressed and need to be DEcompressed.
Offline Quests from the GDisk are uncompressed.
Use fuzziqers PRSUTIL like this (from the commandline, by the way):
prsutil.exe <questfile>
Replace <questfile> with the file you want to decompress, for example:prsutil.exe quest118.bin
prsutil.exe quest118.dat
After a lot of screen output you will see a file called quest118.bin.bin and quest118.dat.bin in the same folder.
Delete the *.bin/*.dat or move the file(s) back to the quest folder (but not the bin.bin and dat.bin ! )
After all steps are done, fire up the quest editor.
Rename all questfiles by their double extensions.
quest118.bin.bin => quest118.bin
quest118.dat.bin => quest118_j.dat (added the _j for compatibility reasons)
After that you are now able to edit this quest.
///////////////////
Now for the Rebuild:
NOTE: To use a quest in the server, YOU NEED TO COMPRESS IT.
Easy Method:
load the dat you edited in the questeditor.
Search for a menuitem called "Compress" or something like that.
Moderate Method:
Alternately you can use PRSUTIL to compress it.
Before compressing, remove the _j from the filename.
prsutil.exe *<questfile>
Replace <questfile> with the file you want to compress, for example:prsutil.exe *quest118.bin
prsutil.exe *quest118.dat
After the screen output stops, you will see a quest118.bin.prs and a quest118.dat.prs in the same folder.
If you edited a quest which has already a number it's a good idea to rename both files into a unused number or textstring.
Textstrings cannot be longer than 10+4 characters.
edited_quest118.bin.prs => my1stquest.bin or quest666.bin
edited_quest118.dat.prs => my1stquest.dat or quest666.dat
These files are now ready for use with the server.
Copy them to your server's questfolder and use addquest.exe to add it to your questlist.
I hope you know how to use addquest?
Any questions?

Hey, not to be a bother, but if you're gonna make an "update" to your old post (and it's not about 5 days ago), use the edit button please? Gets kinda messy

When did you make the rules about forum posts? Seeing as how your the one making topics about the forum being back up, when we all notice it is seeing as how we can connect to it.
Totakeke- 08-04-2006
This message board doesn't have any rules posted anywhere, but we're still a small community. Do we really need rules to be posted for people to have common sense? Let's not turn this into a flame fest, please. :|
I can combine your posts for you if you want me to, it's not hard and only takes a few seconds. Double/triple posting is alright with me if the posts are a long time apart. That way people can know there's something new in that thread.
Back on topic. Ok i can get them to show up online now idk what i did but its working...XD

That download link isn't working so I can't confirm if they're precompressed. You can check yourself by opening the .bin in a hex editor and looking at the ASCII. Do you see periods and garble inbetween the text, words, and quest name, etc? If you do, it's compressed.
But... the black screen occurs when the quest isn't compressed. Compress them with prsutil and try again.
Nathan- 08-04-2006
Hey Thanks everybody!!! got it all down. heh Im kindof embarassed to say what was holding me back but here it goes.
I never knew you had to compress the .bin.......
lol wow im better at Hexes anyway
Off to do some stuff then realy mess with the game.
Also my team is making a Cbed and tower Hex chart because i cant seem to find anyone anywhere so if anyone needs it just Pm me should be done in a few days.
RydiaFromFF2- 08-04-2006
geeze sorry for giving a damn Ikozushin?
I know there's no rules. I didn't command him, I didn't order him, I just nicely asked him if he could do that.
fuzziqersoftware- 08-05-2006
I'm hoping we won't need posted rules; that makes it appear that the forum's members are mature enough to handle themselves.
